The Far West – a truly unique sense sensation.
Leaving Inverness, we cross the bonnie Black Isle, and head west up Strath Braan to lonely Achnasheen. From there, this tour follows the Wester Ross Coastal Trail, where your eyes will be drawn, again and again, to the stunning landscapes that surround you on every side. The view down Loch Maree from Glen Docherty has long been recognised as one of the finest in the Highlands.
Everywhere you are surrounded by great mountains, each with distinctive shape and character. Will your favourite be Slioch, Ben Eighe, or An Teallach. Or perhaps mountains aren’t your thing, in which case you can enjoy the sea views – bays, headlands, magnificent deserted beaches and views out to the Summer Isles and others.
Listen for the calls of the many birds, or perhaps the roaring of the Red Deer Stag. Gairloch beach murmurs with the sounds of the west – a soft breeze sighing and chuckle of waves on the shore. Let the fine sand trickle through your fingers, as you look across to Skye. And when your senses are ready, we will take you to that amazing sub-tropical haven – the Inverewe Gardens, where you can wander, to your heart’s content, amid some of the most beautiful and exotic plants imaginable. There is also a restaurant on-site.
Our final destination will be Scotland’s only working Perfume Studio, to view the perfumes, soaps, crèmes and toiletries all hand-crafted on site, often using local plants and herbs.
Enjoy the café, and look out for the otters in the bay.
If some folk want a different activity while others visit the perfume studio, then there is the alternative option of visiting the completely unique Aultbea Distillery, where whisky is distilled using the old methods.
The ultimate option is to book a 3 hour perfume workshop, where you can design your own fragrance or crème. This option is an additional £65 per person.
