A tailored tour picking you up from the airport, station or your Inverness Hotel and building in the very finest half day. You choose your itinerary which can include a cruise, the Loch Ness Centre exhibition, Urquhart Castle and many other local attractions. If you prefer to avoid the tourist traps we can do that too, taking you to isolated prehistoric stone circles, magnificent viewpoints, waterfalls and other fascinating locations.
A typical itinerary would begin with an Inverness Tour explaining the history of the castle, the natural history of the river and esker scenery, the story of city-status and the spire-less cathedral. Good photo-opportunities too.
Then we cross the Caledonian Canal, pass the site of King Brude's sixth century fortress and approach the dramatic scenery of the world's most famous body of freshwater.
After a beach stop on the loch-side, if you have booked Tony, he use a short live+DVD presentation to help explain the monster story. Our other guides also have the inside story and use their own methods.
If you are taking a cruise you will now join the boat for a cruise which can even be combined with a waterborne arrival at Urquhart Castle where your guide will meet you to provide some insight into some of the idiosyncrasies of this ruined medieval fortress.
There are other options open to you like Loch Ness Centre for the insatiable Nessie Hunters or stunning hilltop scenery. Perhaps you'd prefer to see a prehistoric stone circle. Making the choices can be as good an experience as the actual visits.
Throughout the day your guide will provide a gentle understanding of the violent past of this beautiful country.
During the months of October to April the tour can also be extended to include a deer-hunt, but no rifles, only cameras. This picture was taken on the tour by ten year old passenger, Nelson Harris, at the beginning of March 2007. No telephoto lens was used and this is the entire picture. It has not been cropped! On that particular day we encountered more than a dozen beasts as close up as this one.
So if you'd like to spend a day of your vacation in the company of a local historian, an author or a history enthusiast, one of our guides will be perfect for you.
Price: £180 for guide and vehicle - check top of calendar for how many passengers each guide can carry.
