NO CHILDREN UNDER SIXTEEN ON THIS TOUR. MANY DISTILLERIES DO NOT OPEN WEEKENDS, ESPECIALLY OFF-SEASON. THE COOPERAGE NEVER OPENS AT WEEKENDS.

Ruined Elgin CathedralWe will collect you from your hotel, the station or airport and we depart Inverness, passing by King Duncan's Grave, then along the road to Culloden Battlefield which can be visited depending on your priorities.

Continuing eastwards we pass through the seaside town of Nairn, on through Forres until we reach the city of Elgin.

The cathedral has been ruined since the sixteenth century Reformation of the church.

The Macallan Scotch WhiskyThere is time to visit the cathedral if one of the distillery visits can be omitted. We will discuss this with you on the way to Elgin. Alternatively we'll just view the cathedral from a outside the perimeter and head towards Craigellachie for our first whisky visit, the small, but fascinating Aberlour Distillery.

These distilleries offer a choice of visit from a standard tour and tasting to a special visit involving tastings and even the chance to have a bottle named for you.

After Aberlour we go straight on to an even more famous whisky distillery - The Macallan. Again there are other choices if you would prefer to take a quality lunch or visit a local castle. This is actually quite full day so we recommend taking a packed lunch so as not to miss out on any of the important attractions.

Aberlour Malt WhiskiesNext, a visit to the Speyside Cooperage for an absolutely fascinating visit watching casks being constructed from scratch or repaired for further use. They also make some wonderful furniture from retired casks.

Barrel charringWe can discuss other distilleries which you may wish to visit once you have reserved your date.

For those who do not want to visit any distilleries, this tour can be tailored to include a number of castles and some beautiful scenery.
