This Isle of Mull Tour, when undertaken from Inverness demands an early start.
We set off down the Great Glen alongside
Loch Ness, Loch Oich,
spectacular Loch Lochy and then join the "Road to the Isles", before leaving it on
single track roads to Lochaline. Here we board the ferry for the
Isle of Mull.
Arriving at Fishnish, we drive south to Craignure and there is ample time to visit Torosay Castle and to partake, one way or return, the narrow gauge Mull railway. Scenic and great fun too.
Torosay Castle was the home of the late David James MP who was well known for his book, "Prisoner's Progress" detailing his attempts to escape from wartime Germany.
After a while on the Isle of Mull, we take the longer ferry ride from Craignure to Oban. Very scenic, this trip also provides excellent views of the Oban Folly.
Now we journey along the delightful coast road to Fort William,
where there is time for some tea before we return along the Great Glen back to
Inverness, taking, where time allows, more scenic back roads.
Weather permitting there will be an opportunity to photograph the Ben Nevis
Range of mountains from the Commando Memorial near
Spean Bridge.
Although this tour is shown as 9 hours, we are happy to extend this at no extra charge for those who do not mind a later return to Inverness.
This tour is also ideal to extend into a two day tour and we are happy to provide a quotation for this on request.
Price: £450 for up to six passengers.
